Overview
"I want a catamaran small enough to single-hand into a Mediterranean marina, big enough to sleep eight, and honest enough to actually sail when the wind picks up."
Who this boat is for
Charter-minded owners and families stepping from monohull into multihull cruising — or experienced cat owners trading down for easier handling without losing volume.
Hisham's take
The all-new Lagoon 38 replaces the legendary Lagoon 380 with an entirely new VPLP hull, exterior design by Patrick le Quément, and an interior by Nauta Design. Three or four-cabin layouts; in-and-out salon with a full sliding glass door connecting interior to cockpit; extended transoms that double as bathing platforms; self-tacking jib standard with square-top main optional. Best New Sailboat Overall at the 2025 Newport for New Products awards, Best Boats SAIL winner 2026, British Yachting Awards Highly Commended 2025. The entry point into Lagoon — and a remarkably honest one.

TheBoatfinder® Review
Our take, on the water.

Sailed the new Lagoon 38 to see whether "replacement for the 380" is real or marketing. Real. The new hull is faster, the interior volume is genuinely close to the old 40, and the in-and-out saloon is the kind of move you only understand once you've cooked dinner with eight people aboard. Best entry into multihull cruising on the water right now.
